Some family heirlooms are priceless. Some are cursed. And some... well, they might just decide the fate of a family. Don't miss the revival of the August Wilson classic, The Piano Lesson, coming to a theatre near you. Set during the Great Depression, a struggling Pittsburgh family must decide whether to keep or sell a previous family heirloom in order to make ends meet.
The Piano Lesson is part of August Wilson's ten-play cycle chronicling African American life across each decade of the 20th century. It premiered on Broadway in 1987 and won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1990. The original production starred Charles S. Dutton and Carl Lumbly, and the play has since been revived multiple times, including a highly acclaimed Broadway revival directed by LaTanya Richardson Jackson and starring Samuel L. Jackson.
