Mel Brooks new musical Young Frankenstein based on the 1974 smash hit movie. When Frederick Frankenstein, an esteemed New York brain surgeon and professor, inherits a castle and laboratory in Transylvania from his grandfather, he faces a dilemma: does he continue to run from his family's tortured past, or does he stay in Transylvania to carry on his grandfather's mad experiments reanimating the dead and, in the process, fall in love with his sexy lab assistant, Inga?
2010 TONY AWARD WINNERS
At last the waiting is over, and after all the excitement of the most glamorous night on Broadway, best of the Broadway season were honored at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, 14 June. A host of A-list actors turned out for the stage equivalent of the Oscars. The 2010 Tony Awards have officially been announced.
Red, John Logan's portrait of abstract-expressionist artist Mark Rothko, and Memphis, the story of showbiz aspirations and forbidden love in the Civil Rights era, were named Best Play and Best Musical, respectively.
The Tony for Best Revival of a Play went to the late August Wilson's drama Fences starring Denzel Washington (Tony for Best Actor Tony) and Viola Davis (Tony for Best Actress in a Play).
Best Revival of a Musical went to La Cage aux Folles starring Douglas Hodge (Tony for Best Actor in a Musical) and Kelsey Grammer.
