With sets by 2019 Nohl Fellowship winner Ras 'Ammar Nsoroma and dramaturgy by Bronzeville authority Sheri Williams Pannell, this is a Boheme that celebrates the artistic and cultural influence of the unique 'city within our city', shining new light on Puccini's beloved masterpiece.
What is the story?
The story chronicles the lives and loves of a spirited but destitute collective of artists, philosophers, and musicians. When the poet Rodolfo is entreated by Mimi, his beautiful and delicate neighbor to help her light her last candle, he loses his heart immediately. He and Mimi embark on a dizzying relationship that captures the whole scope of Bohemian life, from raucous parties at various watering holes to spirited fights with their landlord. The ultimate paean to love, life and art set to a lushly romantic and heartbreaking score.
