Step into the world of Puccini's Madama Butterfly, a timeless opera where Japanese traditions intertwine with American dreams, creating a poignant tale of love, sacrifice, and cultural collision.Meet Cio-Cio San, affectionately known as Butterfly, a young Japanese girl who believes she's found true happiness in her marriage to U.S. Naval Officer Pinkerton. But her devotion is tragically misguided, as Pinkerton sees their union merely as a fleeting chapter before he returns to America to find his "real" bride. Unaware of his intentions, the lovestruck Butterfly waits faithfully for his return to Japan, eager to introduce him to their son - only to face heartbreak when she learns the devastating truth.
The sultry streets of Seville come to life in Georges Bizet's iconic Carmen. One of the most recognizable operas in the canon, this sizzling tale of lust and betrayal runs the gamut from passionate romance to tragedy, belayed by Bizet's unforgettable score. Featuring the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra conducted by Francesco Milioto, this blockbuster production stars the Florentine debutant Lisa Marie Rogali as the titular Carmen.
